Dealing with the daily mail can become a daunting task. Here are a few simple tips to keep it from
getting out of control.
- Make a commitment to sort through the mail immediately, every day.
This way, it won't end up in a huge pile and important pieces won't get lost.
- Recycle unwanted catalogs and junk mail immediately. Limit yourself to the number of catalogs
you keep to look through later - most stores have their full inventory available online anyway.
- Sort family members' mail and have everyone responsible for dealing with their own mail every day.
- Shred anything with personal information or account numbers on it.
- Create a file of bills to pay located in your home office or wherever
you pay your bills. You can sort them by due date to avoid late fees or missed payments.
- Create an inbox for statements and other important paperwork to be filed; file these
items once a week or when the box is full.
